Obstacle Run Hoofddorp: 24 September 2026

5 min read

The Schiphol Trade Park Obstacle Run takes place on Thursday 24 September 2026 in Hoofddorp. You run 5 or 10 kilometres over a course with around fifteen obstacles per lap. Taking part is free, the start is at 17:15 and there is no timing.

Ricardo Berkhout of BerkSports is running the 5 kilometres. The course is on Schiphol Trade Park, the same business park where the BerkSports padel court is.

What time does the Obstacle Run start?

Reception and registration open at 16:30, the opening and the warm-up are at 17:00 and the start is at 17:15. The last participants come in at around 19:15. After that there is a get-together at New Terra, which runs until 20:00.

So count on an evening from about half past four until eight. How long you are out on the course yourself depends on your pace and on the distance you choose; the organisers allow for participants until 19:15. Supporters are welcome and pay nothing.

Which obstacles are on the course?

The course map of the Schiphol Trade Park Obstacle Run names fourteen obstacles; the organisers put it at around fifteen per 5-kilometre lap. There is climbing, hanging, carrying, crawling and water.

  • Hurdles
  • Walls
  • Water Crossing
  • Monkeybar
  • Balance Beam
  • Sandbag Carry
  • Over-Under-Through
  • Pull Up
  • Barb Wire
  • Farmer Carry
  • A-Frame
  • Irish Table
  • Electro
  • Net Climb

You may skip an obstacle you do not fancy: you go around it and carry on afterwards. That also keeps the course manageable if you cannot or would rather not do everything. The full course map is on stpobstaclerun.nl.

Will you run 5 or 10 kilometres?

The 5 kilometres is one lap of the course, with the roughly fifteen obstacles on it. The 10 kilometres is that same lap twice, and therefore around thirty obstacles. You choose the distance yourself.

There is no timing and no ranking at the Schiphol Trade Park Obstacle Run. So nobody is checking how fast you were; it is about taking part and about the people you run with.

Who is the Obstacle Run meant for?

The Obstacle Run at Schiphol Trade Park is meant for the companies on the park and for everyone who works or trains there. All levels are welcome and you do not have to be sporty for it. You take part as an individual or with a team of 2 to 6 people.

Taking part is free, and so is the get-together afterwards. Do you know someone who is running and would you like to come and cheer them on? That costs nothing either.

How do you enter?

Entry is at stpobstaclerun.nl and is free. You always enter as an individual, even if you are running in a team: you then fill in the team name and your team-mates when you enter. The event is organised by Schiphol Trade Park and run by Club Hive B.V.

How do you prepare for an obstacle run?

An obstacle run of 5 kilometres asks two things at once: keep running, and climb, hang and carry in between. Fitness alone is not enough, and neither is strength alone. Anyone who runs a few times a week and works on their upper body and grip alongside that will get a long way.

At BerkSports in Hoofddorp, circuit training and small group training fit that best: short, varied blocks in which strength and fitness run alongside each other. BerkSports is already training a group for another event, which you can read about in the article on the SkiErg and the STYREKX Fitness Race.
