From October 2026 you can box during the day at BerkSports: every Monday from 12:45 to 13:30. The session lasts 45 minutes, you train with a maximum of nine people, and you need no experience for it.
The class is there for anyone with time during the working day: people who work from home, people with a flexible working day, and parents who want to train before the children have to be collected from school. BerkSports is at Rijnlanderweg 1069 in Hoofddorp.
When is the daytime boxing session?
The daytime boxing session runs from October 2026 every Monday from 12:45 to 13:30, in the BerkSports gym at Rijnlanderweg 1069 in Hoofddorp. It is a fixed weekly class of 45 minutes.
That makes it the second boxing class on the schedule. The first is on Wednesday evening at 18:00 and stays exactly where it is. They are the same sessions, only at a different time, so you can pick whichever suits you best, or do both. Both are in the BerkSports weekly schedule.
Does a boxing session fit into a lunch break?
The class runs from 12:45 to 13:30, so you are outside again by half past one. Add your travel time to Rijnlanderweg 1069 and the time to change, and for anyone working or working from home in Hoofddorp or the Haarlemmermeer that fits within a generous lunch break.
The time was chosen deliberately. A class that starts at 12:45 leaves your morning intact, and you are done well before the school run. So there is no need to keep an evening free for it.
Who is boxing during the working day meant for?
For anyone who finds it easier to free up an hour during the day than in the evening. In practice, at BerkSports that mostly means people working from home, people with a flexible working day or shifting rotas, and parents who want to train between dropping the children off and picking them up.
You need no boxing experience and no particular level. The exercises are adapted to whoever is there, from beginner to advanced. It is a cardio session with boxing technique, not a competitive sport: nobody fights.
What does a BerkSports boxing session look like?
A boxing session at BerkSports is 45 minutes of cardio boxing: you work on fitness, strength, coordination and punching technique, with rhythmic combinations on the punchbag and exercises for your whole body. The group is small, a maximum of nine people, so there is room to have your technique corrected.
You can see what that looks like in the boxing session on the BerkSports Instagram channel. Or, as the caption under that clip puts it:
Alongside Small Group Training, circuit training and personal training we now have boxing on the schedule too. Forty-five minutes of working on your fitness. The punches are figurative, the sweat is real!
There is more about how the class is built up on the page about boxing in Hoofddorp and Rijsenhout.

What does boxing at BerkSports cost?
You can join the boxing session with a Small Group Training membership, or with a class pass of €175 for ten classes. That pass is handy if you cannot make it every week: it is not tied to a fixed day, so you can use it for the Monday afternoon, the Wednesday evening, or both.
Your first class is free. Anyone can take one free trial session, with or without a membership, so that you know what you are starting. All memberships and prices are on the site.
Why add a boxing class on Monday afternoon?
Because people asked for it. The boxing classes at BerkSports are going well, and over recent months Ricardo Berkhout and Irene have been looking for a moment where another class could fit. With some shuffling and the help of a few enthusiastic participants, Monday afternoon fitted.
So Monday afternoon is not a leftover slot but a deliberately chosen time: the moment when people with a flexible working day can actually come. From October 2026 it is a fixture on the schedule.
Frequently asked questions about daytime boxing
Do I need experience with boxing?
No. The BerkSports boxing session suits everyone, from beginner to advanced, and the exercises are adapted to your level. You learn the punching technique in the class itself. It is cardio boxing: you hit a punchbag and not each other, so there is nothing to be nervous about.
How many people take part in a boxing class?
A maximum of nine per class. That is deliberately small, so the trainer can come round to everyone and your technique is corrected on the spot. It also helps with waiting at the punchbags: you spend most of those 45 minutes actually training.
Can I take a free trial boxing session first?
Yes. Anyone can take one free trial session at BerkSports, with or without a membership, and that applies to the Monday afternoon boxing class too. You are committed to nothing afterwards. Sign up through the BerkSports contact form or by phone on +31 6 42030966.
What is the difference with the Wednesday evening boxing session?
Only the time. The Monday class from 12:45 to 13:30 and the Wednesday class at 18:00 are the same 45-minute session, with the same structure and the same group size. With a class pass or a membership you can choose week by week which of the two suits you.
Do I have to be a member to come and box during the day?
No. Besides a Small Group Training membership you can take a class pass of €175 for ten classes. That lets you come when it suits you, with no monthly commitment. It fits a working week that differs from one week to the next.
Is boxing good for your head as well as your fitness?
Many participants experience a boxing session as a way of emptying the tank completely. Beyond that there is boxing therapy: a body-oriented method in which boxing is used to develop mental resilience and self-awareness. For that, BerkSports refers people to Bokstherapie023.
